Every once in awhile, if I'm lucky, there's a small section in a painting that just sort of does it for me. Floats my boat, so to speak, even though I often don't even know why. I tend to go back to it for encouragement and focus on it when I need to ignore or let go of something elsewhere in the piece. I'm not sure if other artists do this too or if it's just a quirk of mine...though I suspect I'm not alone.
